Guests will be free to enjoy 1,300 acres of hill, forest and
farmland.
A green management policy is leading to the development of many wildlife habitats,
from young native pinewoods
to wetlands. Mature parkland trees add greatly to the beauty of the landscape.
Abundant birds and other wild animals flourish at Bamff. |
The main activities at Bamff
are farming, forestry and the letting of houses.
Shooting is a relatively small scale activity.
There are many delightful walks on the Bamff estate itself, from a short stroll
to the lochan with its yellow flag irises to half day hikes up on the moor.
From the top of Balduff (Bamff's highest point at 1400 feet) you can see for
miles
in clear weather to the north
and west
far into highland Perthshire and to
the south & east across Strathmore
and the rolling Angus hills. |
Shooting at Bamff can be arranged through Strathmore Sporting
Services.
Fishing for brown trout ( Salmo trutta ) and salmon ( Salmo salar )
can be arranged,
as can deer stalking (both for roe deer and red deer )
Horse riding can be arranged. |
Golf
is well represented locally.
There are three golf courses around Alyth: Alyth Golf Club,
Strathmore Course and Glenisla.
In addition there courses at Rosemount, Kirriemuir, Dalmunzie in Glenshee and
only a little further afield at Braemar.
St.Andrews is one hour's drive away as are the courses at Gleneagles, Arbroath,
Montrose and Monifieth.
The Cateran Trail passes along
the old drove road, an ancient right of way that runs through the
middle of Bamff.
It is a five day serviced walking trail that runs for 60 miles from Blairgowrie
over to Alyth, up Glenisla over to the
Spittal of Glenshee, on to Strathardle and back to Blairgowrie.
