Glenisla
Glenisla is a rural community of approximately 250 people.
This is an area
of live-stock farming and forestry. Many talented Crafts folk work in the
area.
"Munro baggers" will enjoy Glas Maol, Carn An Turc and Cairn O Claise.
Apart from the Munros - over 3,000 feet - there is much good walking.
The ski slopes at Glenshee are within easy reach via the B951 and A93.
Forter Castle is within the glen and thought by some to be the original *'Bonnie
Hoose O'Airlie'.
It was destroyed in the religious wars of the 17th century
not long after being built and has
recently been restored to its former glory.
Ample wildlife abounds in the form of deer,
pheasants and many field birds.
Heron are often seen and Ospreys may be viewed nearby.
Glenisla Highland Games are held each August with Gathering on the banks of
the
Isla at the foot of Mount Blair .
