The Angus
Glens, east of Perthshire,
south of the Grampians and north of Dundee – five glens from west to
east like the fingers of a hand each with its own special characteristics
and each one worth a visit. Discover hidden gems in the rolling countryside
of this peaceful corner of Scotland. Glenisla, running parallel to
Glen Shee, is most westerly of the five and the only one where the
road exits to the north, as well as the south, so you can drive through
the Grampian hills to Braemar and Deeside. It is made up of six parishes
along the River Isla these are, Glenisla, Kilry and Lintrathen to the
north and Airlie, Ruthven and Kingoldrum
to the south. Access to glenisla is from Alyth, Glenshee, Braemar, Kirriemuir
and Forfar.
At
the southern end of the glen, five miles north of Alyth by Bridge of
Glenisla is Reekie Linn, a series of waterfalls that plunge through
a deep, wooded gorge.
Places of interest: The Peel Coffee Shop and Country Trail to red deer paddock.
There is a new Courtyard Barn full of antiques, collectibles and gifts. Snack
Lunches and home baking are available. Regular craft workshops and Saturday afternoon
demonstrations.
